Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering.
The Centre of Micro/nano Manufacturing Technology (www.mnmt-dublin.org) has been established at the University College Dublin (UCD) to deliver high-impact, innovative science and engineering research. MNMT-Dublin has particular focus on development of medical devices enabled by its featured technologies and machines in high precision manufacturing. The Centre brings together a multi-disciplinary team of over 20 PhD and Post-doc researchers in manufacturing engineering, medical devices and optics, in fundamental and translational research.
Project Description: 3DMA brings together an interdisciplinary team to develop microneedle devices for transdermal drug delivery. The project aims to address some major challenges faced in this sector, such as applicable dosage, manufacturing cost, ease of use. The project will develop partnership with some connected companies and endeavour to commercialise the devices.
This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
Applications are sought from excellent candidates with a background in some, or all, of microneedle manufacturing, micro injection moulding, mould design, automatic assembly system. This position will involve significant interaction with industrial partners. It is possible to extend the contract for another 12 months afterwards, depending on the project enters Stage 2 and performance of the candidate is competent.
Salary Range: 歐元42,783 - 歐元49,177 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
