This post is full time and has funding for up to 18 months, with the possibility of being extended for a further 18 months.

The James Watt School of Engineering is looking for a Research Assistant/Associate/Fellow to contribute to/make a leading contribution as appropriate to the growing research in the Centre for Responsible Electronics (REACT), this research assistant / associate/ fellow will work with Dr Mahmoud Wagih and the growing team.

As a researcher in the Centre for Responsible Electronics (REACT), you will make a leading contribution to design of sustainable electronics hardware, at a strategic industry/academia research collaboration through the REACT Centre. You will design and build cutting-edge electronic systems which reduce the environmental footprint of electronics, from manufacturing to disposal.

Your role will be highly dynamic; you will develop a suite of electronic systems, ranging from biodegradable PCBs for IoT, through integrating recyclable ICs for high-end electronics applications, to sustainable wearable and environmental sensors. These demonstrators will have strong potential for high-profile publications, commercialisation, and/or dissemination as open-source designs.

The ideal candidate might be from an academic (e.g. PhD/Postdoc in a related electronics area) or industrial (practicing hardware/embedded electronic engineer) background. The key is having good hands-on experience in electronics design and implementation, and the enthusiasm to pick up new skills.
