Summary of the positions
The laboratory of Dr. Anupam Patgiri in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at Emory School of Medicine (https://patgirilab.org) is seeking two motivated postdoctoral fellows to work in the areas of mitochondrial biology and cellular metabolism. The postdoctoral fellows will investigate the metabolic consequences of mitochondrial dysfunctions and explore therapeutic approaches in cell culture and animal models. The fellows will have the opportunity to learn LCMS-based metabolomics on the Patgiri lab’s Agilent 6546 QTOF high-resolution LCMS. Candidates could be PhD in any area of biomedicine with training in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, and protein biochemistry. One of the positions requires prior experience in mouse studies. The second position requires expertise in protein purification from bacterial and mammalian cells.
Required Qualifications:
PhD in biomedicine with experience in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology.
Hands-on experience with mouse work (breeding, surgery, and physiology) (postdoc position 1)/or with protein expression and purification from bacterial and mammalian cells (postdoc position 2).
Mammalian cell culture.
Molecular biology (cloning, lentiviral gene expression or knock-out, western blotting, qPCR, etc.).
Ability to work independently and successfully complete projects.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in any mitochondrial biology or cellular metabolism.
Experience with LCMS-based metabolomics.
Protein therapeutics (enzyme design, deimmunization, and PK/PD studies).
Adeno-associated virus (AAV)-based therapeutics in animal models.
Experience with seahorse extracellular flux analyzer, mitochondria isolation, and mitochondrial disease models.
