          Postdoctoral Researcher in Ultra-High Field MRI

          Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU Grade 7: £33,309- £40,927 p.a.

          We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher who will report to Assoc Prof Thomas Okell as part of the WIN/FMRIB Physics Group. The post-holder will be responsible for carrying out research in non-invasive brain blood flow measurements using ultra-high field (7T) MRI. This includes the development and validation of novel arterial spin labelling (ASL) pulse sequences, incorporating cutting edge ultra-high field techniques such as parallel transmission and dynamic B0 shimming.

          This project aims to develop a robust platform for 7T ASL, enabling, for example, the accurate measurement of white matter perfusion and high- resolution functional ASL, along with the development of advanced ASL methods, such as combined angiography and perfusion imaging. The post holder will also act as a source of information and advice to other members of the group and collaborators, training them to use new methods developed as part of this project and advising them on optimal protocols.

          It is essential that the postholder holds or be imminently about to complete a doctoral degree (PhD or Dphil) in physics, engineering or other relevant discipline. It is also essential that the successful candidate can demonstrate knowledge of MRI physics, particularly that relevant to ultra-high field imaging.

          It would be beneficial to the role if the postholder has experience in MRI pulse sequence development, ideally on a Siemens platform. It would also be desirable if the successful candidate has expertise in ultra-high field MRI.

          The post is full-time for a fixed-term of 30 months in the first instance.
