We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join Dr. Benjamin Walter’s laboratory in the Center for Neurological Restoration and Department of Neurosciences at the Cleveland Clinic.
This position will support research focused on the application of fMRI and advanced neuroimaging techniques to facilitate the understanding of sensory and motor systems in human disease. Our work focuses on understanding the pathophysiology of movement disorders including Parkinson’s disease and dystonia and how these conditions respond to therapeutic deep brain stimulation.
The Walter lab is seeking highly independent and creative individuals with a MD or PhD degree, who are motivated to work in diverse and collaborative research environment. We will consider candidates with backgrounds in functional MRI and may have backgrounds in systems neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or physics.
Essential skills: Mastery of written and spoken English; ability to work well with others. Should have good knowledge of common fMRI software packages including E-Prime, FSL, and/or Brainvoyager
TECHNICAL SKILLS
The major aspect of our work requires technical skills in designing and conducting experiments involving functional MRI, diffusion tensor imaging, and design of devices for use in the MRI environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise medical, graduate and/or undergraduate students during rotations in the lab as required.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
MD or PhD degree required; Background in physics and/or neuroscience strongly preferred.
YEARS OF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
At least 2 years of relevant experience in functional and structural brain imaging research is required.
