           耶魯大學(xué)癌癥生物學(xué)博士后招聘

            Job Description

The Escobar-Hoyos lab in the Department of Therapeutic Radiology and Yale Cancer Center at Yale University is seeking a highly motivated and creative post-doctoral researcher with a background in cancer biology and/or RNA biology, or related fields to join our team.

We are seeking a dynamic individual who will be responsible, as a member of a team, for designing and executing studies focused on understanding and targeting altered RNA processing mechanisms in pancreatic cancer.

As the most common form of pancreatic cancer, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has emerged as the 3rd leading cause of cancer death in the United States, in part because this malignancy is highly resistant to chemotherapeutic intervention.

Recently, it’s been shown that PDAC is composed of distinct molecular subtypes, based on RNA expression and patient outcome, underscoring that much remains to be understood about RNA expression, processing and regulation in this disease. Our research is focused on 1) characterizing the molecular pathways and functions controlled by aberrant RNA splicing and 2) designing RNA- targeted therapies to uncover novel therapeutic vulnerabilities in this disease.

Our group is heavily involved with RNA Sequencing of human and mouse pancreatic cancers. The candidate is expected to perform experiments exploring alterations in RNA splicing and additional steps in RNA processing, using a variety of preclinical model systems that include cell lines, xenografts, genetically engineered mouse models, and patient-derived models. A desire to develop and implement new methodologies is highly advantageous. There will be numerous opportunities for training to complement current skills, collaborate with other outstanding scientists, and to enhance grant writing skills.

The candidate will work within an integrated, multidisciplinary team composed of basic scientists, computational biologists, pathologists, medical oncologists, and radiologists, with significant resources for bioinformatics support, access to clinical specimens, and studies in human and animal tissues.

Applicants should have completed a PhD in cell biology or a related field and have a strong publication record, excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong research experience in signal transduction, transcriptional control, RNA splicing, genomics and bioinformatics, or related fields. Recent PhD graduates or current PhD candidates completing their studies are encouraged to apply.

Experience with several of the following activities are desirable: characterization of genetically engineered mouse models, work with patient-derived xenografts or organoids, and culture of primary cells. Initial salary is commensurate with experience. Applying for independent funding is not required but is strongly encouraged for the career development of the candidate.

Qualified candidates should send a curriculum vitae, a cover letter detailing research interests and career goals, and contact information for three references to Dr. Luisa Escobar-Hoyos (luisa.escobar-hoyos@yale.edu).

Yale is an affirmative action equal opportunity employer. Yale values diversity among its students, faculty, and staff. Women, persons with disabilities, protected veterans, and underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply.
