Additional Information
Assist Dr. Stephen Russell with ongoing study of school policies on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) and student well-being.
Provide leadership, direction, and guidance for graduate and undergraduate research assistants affiliated with project. Participate with project partners (Principal Investigator, Program Coordinators, Research Assistants, Funders, and Community Partners) to develop and implement dissemination materials for funders and lay and academic audiences. Coordinate project activities with related activities of other research and outreach projects in the UT School of Human Ecology/Department of Human Development and Family Sciences and the Population Research Center. Prepare proposals for new and continuing funding from outside sponsors. Develop and facilitate workshops, meetings, and conference presentations. Manage, combine, and analyze multiple large administrative and survey data sources that include repeated cross-section designs and multiple level of analysis (students, teachers, schools, and school districts).
Other related functions as assigned.
Ph.D. or doctorate level degree in field appropriate for project (Human Development and Family Sciences, Sociology, Education, Psychology, Demography) and at least two years of relevant research experience. PhD must have been earned in the past three years. Knowledge of social scientific research methods and experience with secondary data management and analysis. Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of cultural differences. Experience with large-scale survey data management and analyses. Experience with secondary data management and analysis. Knowledge of one or more of the following fields of study: adolescent sexual orientation, gender, health, sexual education, school discipline and safety, education inequalities. Ability to read and understand social science research and translate for non-researchers. Strong written, communication, and organizational skills.
Experience with the management and analysis of large-scale social, behavioral, or health sciences surveys of adolescents. Experience with advanced survey research statistical methods (e.g., complex sample structure adjustments, sample weights, multi-leveling modeling, and structural equation modeling). Experience managing, combining, and analyzing multiple large administrative and survey data sources that include repeated cross-section designs and multiple levels of analysis (students, teachers, schools, and school districts). Knowledge and experience working with culturally diverse populations. Supervisory experience.
