THE DEPARTMENT OF NEUROSCIENCE AT MAYO CLINIC INJACKSONVILLE, FL, IS SEEKING AN OUTSTANDING POSTDOCTORALAPPLICANT WITH A BACKGROUND IN NEUROSCIENCE, AGING, AND/ORINFLAMMATION
The ideal candidate for this position will be an individual with basic or translational experience in the fields of neuroscience, aging, and/or CNSinflammation/innate immunity. Skill sets should include basic molecular biology techniques such as gene cloning, RT-qPCR, Western blotting, ELISAs, immunostaining, etc. Additional expertise utilizing in vivo mouse work and cell culture is highly desirable. The candidate for this position will be expected to have demonstrated scientific excellence in the form of publications in well-regarded journals.
The projects will be focused on disease mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s disease, particularly related to metabolism of tau and consequences of abnormal tau accumulation such as the innate immune response mediated by microglia. This project is funded by the NIH, State of Florida, and Mayo Foundation.
THE MAYO DEPARTMENT OF NEUROSCIENCE is a prominent neuroscience department and hosts NIH-designated Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and Udall Center of Excellence for Parkinson's Disease Research.

Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree and must have the ability to design, conduct, and report on controlled research experiments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
