A postdoctoral position is available to start on 1st May 2016 on a Cancer Research UK programme grant entitled ‘From immune suppression to immunotherapy: the function and clinical significance of the immune response to pancreatic cancer’ in the Institute of Immunology and Immunotherapy, University of Birmingham.
Applications are invited from outstanding and highly motivated individuals for a three year (likely extended to five year) post-doctoral researcher position under the supervision of Professors Paul Moss and Jean Baptiste Cazier. The aim of the project is to understand the mechanisms of immune evasion and immune suppression in pancreatic ductal carcinoma (PDA).
PDA is one of the greatest clinical challenges in medicine with a 5-year survival of less than 5%. This large award from CRUK will allow our team to undertake a detailed analysis of the genetic and immunological profile of this tumour and relate it to clinical outcome.
The post holder will have responsibility for bioinformatic analysis of data arising from the research programme. This will involve the use of large scale genetic, immunomic and clinical data. The successful applicant will work jointly between the laboratory research team and the Centre for Computational Biology at the University of Birmingham which is led by Professor Cazier.
The appointed individual will have a PhD relevant to Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Sciences. The applicant must have excellent academic qualifications, communication skills and good teamwork skills.
