Postdoctoral Fellow in Neuroscience : San Antonio, TX, United States
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr Gek-Ming Sia in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Our laboratory studies the development of cortical circuits and synapses, and their involvement in neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and schizophrenia. Potential projects include following up on recent findings on the molecular players involved in language acquisition (Sia et. al., Science, 2013), and the development of novel tools to uncover additional molecular determinants of cortical circuitry formation. Projects will involve common techniques in neuroscience, including proteomics, genetic mouse models, live cell imaging, and general biochemistry and histology. We seek a highly motivated candidates with experience in biochemical and molecular biological work. Experience in neuroscience is preferred but not mandatory.
UTHSCSA is a Tier 1 Research Institution located in northwest San Antonio, a multi-cultural city with a low cost-of-living. The university has excellent core facilities, including a world-class imaging facility with super-resolution and live animal brain imaging capabilities.
