NIH-Funded Postdoctoral Position on Imaging Genetics of Dystonia : New York, NY, United States

Dystonia and Motor Control Laboratory (PI: Kristina Simonyan, MD, PhD) at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY is seeking a postdoctoral candidate who will examine the relationships between the brain function, gene and behavior in patients with a rare neurological disorder, dystonia, which is characterized by involuntary muscle spasms in different body parts. The main focus of our laboratory is on elucidation of the pathophysiology of focal dystonia through the investigations of its neuroimaging, neuropathological, clinical, genetic and environmental correlates. We are also interested in comparisons of imaging features of dystonia with other movement disorders, such as essential tremor and Parkinson’s disease. In addition to our expertise in brain structural and functional imaging, we benefit from close collaborations with expert teams in movement disorder, genetics and neuroscience both at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Potential candidates should hold a PhD or MD/PhD degree in neuroscience, genetics or other relevant areas of biomedical research. He/she will function as part of the multi-disciplinary team of neuroscientists, geneticists and clinicians and will work on a range of imaging genetics projects.
Candidate should be independent, self-motivated, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and related publication record. Qualified candidate should be keen to learn and immerse himself/herself in the ongoing research of the laboratory with the opportunity to develop an independent project. He/she should have strong computational and biostatistical skills to implement and integrate the analysis of multi-dimensional genetic and imaging datasets. 
The position is available immediately, and the applications will be considered on an ongoing basis until the position is filled. The salary will be commensurate with the experience.
