Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Biological Chemistry
This position is for one year funded by a grant from the SENS Research Foundation.
Salary range £29,557 – £30,700 per annum

A postdoctoral research position is available for candidates interested in studying the changes which occur in connective tissue as we age. Although this might appear to be an area well studied in the past, we believe that there is actually a lack of clarity as to what the most important factors are which lead to the tissues in healthy people to age. Through the use of stable isotope labelling and modern analytical techniques, composition and chemical changes key to the ageing of connective tissue will be identified, and the importance of these processes studied. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge and experience in both chemistry and biochemistry, and the position would suit candidates who have previously studied biological chemistry or chemistry with biochemistry as their first degree. In addition, the candidate should have a PhD in either a biochemical or organic chemistry subject and possibly have postdoctoral experience.
