Job Description
| A Postdoctoral Research Associate I position is available in the lab of Fiona Bailey Ph.D., within the Physiology Department at the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ. The successful candidate will work on NIDCD-NIH funded research projects that investigate the neuromuscular control of upper airway muscles in breathing. The research involves the study of motion as a human motor output entailing precise neural control to achieve desired respiratory and acoustic output/targets. Using tungsten microelectrodes and whole muscle fine wire electromyography, the candidate will identify and characterize single motor unit and whole muscle EMG activities as a function of volitional (motor cortex) and respiratory (CPG) driven behaviors. The candidate will also be responsible for developing appropriate visual tracking stimuli and for conducting associated analysis. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. |
