Durham University wishes to appoint a full-time Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA).
The successful applicant will be based at the School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Health at Durham University’s Queen’s Campus and will work under the joint supervision of Prof Stuart Wilson (Durham) and Dr Matt Bailey (University / BHF Centre for Cardiovascular Science).
The overall aim of the project is to use modern cellular and molecular methods to study the mechanisms that underlie the control of renal Na+ retention within the aldosterone-sensitive epithelia of the distal nephron. This physiologically important process is central to the control of whole body Na+ and water balance and therefore central to the control of blood pressure. The supervisors have extensive experience in this area and available funding will allow the development of truly collaborative work between the two institutions.
Ideal applicants will have a PhD in biomedical science and post-doctoral experience in renal / epithelial physiology. We are particularly keen to hear from highly motivated candidates who are keen to develop an independent research career and will encourage such candidates to prepare applications for personal fellowships
