The Mucin Biology Groups are seeking new members with skills in protein biochemistry, mass spectrometry and proteases. After our discoveries around the formation and properties of the intestinal mucus layers, we have a leading role in the understanding of the protection of the intestine. The post-doc will have direct access to our Q-exactive and Orbitrap mass spectrometers for elucidating processing of the MUC2 mucin and related proteins including their cleavage sites and nature of proteases responsible for cleavages.
We are working as a large team on this largely unexplored area that has become central for understanding intestinal commensal bacteria, inflammatory bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis) and cystic fibrosis.
