Research Associate in Theoretical Physics

Salary: £32,750 - £41,540 per annum
Fixed Term: for up to 5.4 months
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in the Theoretical Physics Group of Imperial College London to work with Prof. Jonathan Halliwell. The post is available up to 5.4 months starting as soon as possible.
The Group research interests include particle and quantum cosmology, thermal field theory, string theory and quantum gravity. Members of the group working in string theory include Professors Kellogg Stelle, Mike Duff, Arkady Tseytlin, Chris Hull and Jerome Gauntlett and Amihay Hanany and Dr Toby Wiseman; other permanent staff members are: Professors Fay Dowker, Jonathan Halliwell and Joao Magueijo, Dr Arttu Rajantie, Dr Carlo Contaldi and Dr Tim Evans.
You must have a PhD in Theoretical Physics or have an equivalent level of qualifications and experience and will be expected to have significant experience in the foundations of quantum theory. Experience with decoherence and emergent classicality is also essential. You must also have knowledge of time in quantum theory and the quantum Zeno effect.
You will be expected to contribute to the Department’s teaching activities up to approximately half a day per week during the academic year, as appropriate.
