Job Description
The lipid based drug delivery systems laboratory of Prof. Hayat Onyuksel at University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Biopharmaceutical Sciences, has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research associate position to further develop an anticancer targeted nanomedicine to clinical trial stage. The experiments involved for this product development include large scale production, physical and chemical characterization of the product, activity and toxicity testing animal models.
Duties:
Design, plan and conduct experiments. Analyze and interpret data, and make accurate observations and record results. Conduct experiments on drug formulations, using physical chemical analytical techniques for quality control to determine the content, size, purity and activity of samples, by HPLC, cell culture, animal models and other methodologies as appropriate. Monitor project development on an ongoing basis. Propose and implement changes as needed. Prepare, organize and communicate research results by written reports and other professional communications and assist principal investigator in grant and manuscript submission. Ensure that research and related activities comply with the rules and regulations of the university by periodic review of research protocols, establishing quality control measures, make procedural modifications as needed.
Qualifications:
Highly motivated individuals with a PhD degree in physical chemistry, biology, bioengineering or a related field are invited to apply. Prior experience in parenteral drug formulation, high performance liquid chromatography analysis, dynamic light scattering analysis, cell culture and animal studies is strongly preferred. The applicant should have excellent communication skills and grant writing experience.
