The Associate will contribute to research and teaching (4 semester-week-hours) in Theoretical Physics – Nonlinear Physics. In particular, (s)he will independently pursue and further develop projects concerning the nonlinear physics of living systems. This includes research on growth and motility of/in active media as, e.g., biofilms, cell aggregates, tissues and swarms, employing analytical and numerical methods.

We announce a Research Associate position (Salary group TV-L 13, at first limited to 2 year fixed term) in the group of Prof.Thiele at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Germany. The Associate will contribute to research and teaching (4 semester-week-hours) in Theoretical Physics – Nonlinear Physics. In particular, (s)he will independently pursue and further develop projects concerning the nonlinear physics of living systems. This includes research on growth and motility of/in active media as, e.g., biofilms, cell aggregates, tissues and swarms, employing analytical and numerical methods. The candidate needs to have a PhD in one of the Natural Sciences or in Mathematics, first postdoctoral experiences, and a very good knowledge of biophysical continuum models. A good working knowledge of advanced numerical time stepping and/or path continuation methods is of advantage.
