Post-doctoral Fellow position in Translational Cancer Biology A Post-doctoral Fellow is sought to participate in a translational cancer biology project to investigate the biological mechanisms of cancer metastasis. One area of focus will involve elucidating the role of circulating tumor cell biology in cancer metastasis. The selected candidate will work in the Department of Biological Sciences at Hunter College. The project will build on our recently published work (PLoS One. 2013;8(5): e63765). We seek a highly motivated candidate with a PhD. The candidate must have demonstrated ability to carry out research using cultured cancer cells. Expertise in gene cloning techniques will be an advantage. A willingness to work with mice is essential, but expertise is not required as hands on training will be provided. Practical experience in a variety of commonly used cell and molecular biology techniques is expected.
Other Duties:
The postdoc will also have the opportunity to develop new, complementary projects on mechanisms of cancer metastasis. Salary: $40,000 - $45,000
Core Competencies/Qualifications:
Applicants should have:
• PhD in Biology, Biochemistry or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in Cell and Molecular Biology. The position requires an organized, creative and motivated individual who is enthusiastic about working in Cancer Biology. The postdoc should be keenly interested in further developing scientific writing and verbal communication skills.
