Applications are invited for a post-doctoral researcher to join the Social Neuroscience Laboratory at the University of Delaware. The postdoc will work directly with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Chad Forbes, on a large scale NSF funded project that will examine how negative math stereotypes facilitate biological processes that push women out of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic (STEM) Domains at disproportionate levels compared to men. The postdoc will assist in the design, collection and analysis of high density EEG, startle and genetic data collected at multiple time points in multiple samples.
The ideal candidate will have, or be in the final stages of obtaining, a Ph.D. in Social Neuroscience, Cognitive Neuroscience, or Neuroscience. Excellent computer programming skills (e.g., MATLAB and/or Python) and experience with advanced EEG/MEG signal processing skills including time-frequency analyses and multiple source localization approaches (e.g., Dipole modeling, LORETA, SOBI, etc.) are essential. Knowledge of and experience with BESA and statistical approaches such as hierarchical linear modeling or Bayesian statistics would be advantageous. Individuals with strong backgrounds in neuroimaging techniques will also be considered. Excellent writing and communication skills are required.
The University of Delaware is a Georgian inspired campus located adjacent to White Clay Creek State Park in Newark, DE. Newark offers the charm of a small college town, while being ideally located halfway between Washington, D.C. and New York City and less than an hour away from Philadelphia.
