University Grade 7: £29,541 – £36,298 p.a.
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Scientist in an exciting new research programme at the WIMM, to discover and develop small molecule inhibitors of mutant RAS for treatment of cancer. This new chemical biology drug discovery programme has co-investigators based at the Research Complex at Harwell (RCaH) and the Department of Chemistry, Oxford, and is funded by a Wellcome Trust Seeding Drug Discovery Initiative.
The specific aim of the project is to develop small-molecule drugs that inhibit protein-protein interactions involving the RAS family of proteins. The project will adopt a highly innovative strategy for identification of drug-like molecules, using an antibody fragment that inhibits RAS-effector protein interaction as a structural template for small molecule drug development.
Candidates will hold a PhD in molecular biology. Experience with recombinant protein production and purification, surface plasmon resonance and ITC together with experience of developing and implementing cell based assays and molecular cloning are essential. Experience with AlphaScreen and other methods for small molecule screening would be advantageous.
