Research Associate in Statistical Analysis of High-Throughput Genotype Data (Fixed Term) : Paris, France
The INSERM UMR_S 937 department conducts international-leading genomics research, with emphasis placed on the disentangling of the genetic/epigenetic architecture underlying cardiovascular diseases.
Applications are opened for an enthusiastic junior scientist to join our multidisciplinary team of bioinformaticians/statisticians and experimentalists. The main responsibility of the post-holder will be to apply and further develop bioinformatic tools to analyze and integrate genome-wide genotype dataderived from DNA chips covering both common (GWAS array) and rare (Exome-chip) genetic variations in order to identify variants associated with end-stage renal disease. The post-holder will be part of an international research network dedicated to the genetics of diabetic nephropathy in T1D diabetes patients. As such, the post-holder will have the opportunity to receive training at Harvard Medical School, Boston,USA, in specific area of statistical methodology.
The vacant post is at Research Associate (Post-Doc) level but suitably qualified individuals without a PhD are also encouraged to apply. The post-holder will have relevant experience in bioinformatics or statistical genetics, a sound understanding of scripting using R or other programming language in relation to very large datasets. The post-holder should demonstrate strong abilities to work independently while capable of liaising on a regular basis with researchers in other disciplines, accurately judge priorities and have excellent organisational and communication skills. French language skills are not a prerequisite.
The post is available from 1-09-2013 and is funded until 31-01-2015 in the first instance.
