The Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, Roosevelt Drive, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7BN Grade 7: £29,541 – £36,298p.a. (with a discretionary range to £39,649p.a.)

The Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Bioinformatician / Biostatistician in order to expand an ongoing programme of work utilising next-generation sequencing to study pan-genomic transcriptional and epigenetic responses to hypoxia and their relation to cancer biology. The post will be based at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, a leading international centre for the study of the genetic basis of common human diseases, with a major ‘in house’ sequencing facility. This is located within the Headington Hospitals campus, one of the largest centres for biomedical research in Europe with over £200M invested in capital projects and research infrastructure over the last decade.

You will work within the Oxygen-Sensing Group under the joint supervision of Dr David Mole and Prof Peter Ratcliffe (FRS) who is also head of department. You will have a relevant PhD (or equivalent), a strong background in mathematical and quantitative analysis, and excellent communication and problem solving skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will play a key role in all aspects of the group’s work, from experimental design to new pipeline development through to publication. The post would therefore suit an ambitious, team worker capable of independent thinking who is looking to develop a career in academic research.

The post is available as a fixed-term contract for 3 years and funded by Cancer Research UK.
