Arctic Research Centre (ARC) (see http://arctic.au.dk) and Department of Bioscience, Aarhus University, invites applications for a 3-year post.doc. to work on environmental factors affecting migration strategies and fitness in Arctic migratory waterbirds. The post.doc. will be part of a working group and international network dedicated to the development of new concepts for understanding the dynamics of migratory waterbirds and provide new tools for their sustainable management. The position is available from 1 October 2013.
About the position
The post.doc. will focus on the analysis and evaluation of environmental, climatic and behavioural factors affecting the migration strategies, site fidelity and fitness measures in Arctic migratory geese based on longterm capture-resighting (CMR) datasets. Furthermore, the post.doc. will be involved in the development of integrated population models and CMR estimation of demographic variables such as population size as well as engaging in new meta population studies of Arctic geese as part of the ARC campaigns.
Qualifications
You hold a PhD degree or equivalent qualifications and have documented original research at high international standards. You have documented academic experience in the area of wildlife ecology and handling and statistical analysis of large datasets. Experience with waterbird population dynamics and migration ecology is preferred.
The primary place of work is Arctic Research Centre, Dept. of Bioscience, Aarhus University, Building 1110, C.F. Møllers Allé 8, DK-8000 Aarhus C. Part of the work will also be carried out at Department of Bioscience/Kalø.
