We are currently recruiting for TWO postdoctoral research fellows and TWO PhD Students to join the existing multidisciplinary research team at QUILL. QUILL is the Queen’s University Ionic Liquid Laboratories based in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the Queen’s University of Belfast. It is one of the largest and most active ionic liquid research centres in the world, with staff that includes a number of world-renowned experts in the field including Professor Ken Seddon and Dr John Holbrey (considered by a recent independent assessment to be the top 2 chemists in the UK, based on research impact, in any chemical field). QUILL is an industry-university co-operative research centre and currently there are fourteen industrial members (spread across four continents) including such blue chip companies as BASF, Chevron, Merck, PETRONAS, P&G and Shell.

The appointee will work closely with the existing research team at QUILL and under the guidance of both the QUILL academics and industrial members. There may be a requirement for the research fellow to work for short periods in other laboratories. All the research will be conducted to meet the requirements of international patent law.
Short-listing will take place in July with interviews and appointments made in August 2013.
Salary scale: £30,424 – £39,649 per annum (including contribution points)
