One postdoctoral position is available immediately in Dr. Rongsheng Jin’s laboratory at the Burnham Institute, La Jolla, CA. The new postdoc is expected to work on one of the two exciting research directions: the structure and function of key proteins and protein complexes involved in neuronal synapse functions, and mechanisms of actions of bacterial virulence factors in their cellular context. Our lab employs a multidisciplinary approach involving X-ray crystallography and other structural methods combined with electrophysiology and cell biology. We are also actively involved in structure-based drug design and high-throughput drug screening. The successful candidates should have a Ph.D. degree, high motivation, and strong background in one or more of the following research areas: biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology and structural biology. Experience in X-ray crystallography, insect cell and/or mammalian cell culture would be desirable, but is not required. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
