Dr. Hannah Rae Thomas is a 100 Talents Young Professor in the College of Agriculture and Biotechnology at Zhejiang University. She conducts her research within the Institute of Vegetable Science. She received her PhD in Plant Biology from Cornell University in the USA and conducted her postdoctoral work at the John Innes Centre in the United Kingdom. She has published works in top international journals (The Plant Cell, New Phytologist, Horticulture Research, The Journal of Experimental Botany, etc.), her work has been featured in Science, and she is involved in several international collaborations.
Hannah Rae’s research focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms that drive the ancient horticultural technique, plant grafting. In collaboration with Prof. Yanhong Zhou from the Institute of Vegetable Science, Hannah Rae’s current project focuses on understanding how environmental signals influence graft compatibility and how grafting can be leveraged to improve horticultural traits. We are recruiting postdocs for this on-going project, which covers a diverse range of techniques such as molecular biology, genetics, microscopy, and data analysis. The requirements for the candidates are as follows:
1. Have a PhD in plant biology or a closely related field with advanced molecular biology experience. Candidates with experience in microscopy or grafting will be given greater consideration.
2. Have good health, no older than 35 years old, and have high English proficiency.
3. Have a good publication history, and preference will be given to candidates holding a doctoral degree from a domestic key university, domestic high-level discipline, or top overseas universities.
4. Willing to work in a bi-lingual research environment, assist team members, and help to mentor younger students.
