The Yeast Metabolic Engineering group develops novel yeast cell factories for the production of sustainable chemicals and natural products. We apply advanced genome editing, metabolic modeling, and ‘omic data analyses for data- guided strain design. We are looking for a motivated and talented researcher to join our team.
The position is within the metabolomics and transport proteins research fields.
Responsibilities and tasks You will develop and apply non-targeted and targeted metabolome analyses for studying the transport of small molecules into and out of yeast cells. In collaboration with other team members, you will apply the knowledge to create and improve yeast cell factories.
Specific tasks:
Development of innovative approaches to study the transport of small molecules using mass spectrometry
Experimental design, hands-on data acquisition and analysis
Reporting results in peer-reviewed publications and presentations at conferences and meetings
Collaboration within the group and within DTU Biosustain, participation in international collaborations
Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent.
Further qualifications:
Hands-on experience with MS-based microbial metabolome analysis
Excellent programming skills
Experience with yeast genome editing is desirable
Experience and skill in data visualization
Previous experience with transporter research is a plus
Excellent track-record of scientific achievements (publications, patents, awards, grants, conference presentations, etc.)
Ability to work independently, to plan and carry out complicated research tasks, and also to be a part of the large research team
Experience in project planning and supervision of students or laboratory technicians
Team spirit and excellent collaboration skills
Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment ability
Excellent communication skills, fluent written and oral English
Well-organized, efficient, result-oriented, have excellent record keeping abilities.

Salary and terms of employment The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
