加拿大阿爾伯塔大學(xué)博士后職位
We seek a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow for a 3 year CIHR-funded position to investigate primary cilia in development and disease. The successful candidate will drive projects researching the effect of human mutations on cilia-mediated signaling and planar cell polarity, and gain experience with a breadth of model organisms (zebrafish, murine, and potentially drosophila) plus cell biological techniques.
The Lehmann lab in the Dept. of Medical Genetics, is part of a visual neuroscience network that spans multiple Departments and Faculties at the University of Alberta. This rich inter-disciplinary environment, with expertise extending from neurogenetics and gene therapy to clinical medicine and cell biology, facilitates investigation of fundamental biological disease mechanisms.
Available projects include:
· Characterizing molecular mechanisms underlying extracellular vesicle shedding by primary cilia and their developmental contributions.
· Investigation of a regulator of Hedgehog signaling, and development of inhibitors for oncology.
· Characterization of the effects of transcription factor mutation on Planar Cell Polarity.
Candidates with a recently obtained PhD (within the last 3 years) and broad molecular biology experience (gene expression assays, protein analysis, immunohistochemistry, CRISPR/Cas etc.), are encouraged to apply. Expertise in tissue culture and confocal microscopy, would be an asset.
Candidates must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, publications from their Ph.D. or prior postdoctoral work, and the motivation to pursue the training required for a future independent academic career.
